The position of freelance adviser to the Minister of Internal Affairs – is primarily an instrument for helping to solve the problems of the military and their families. This was stated by the member of the UKROP political council, freelance adviser to the Interior Minister, ATO veteran Yevhen Terehov in the program “Information Day” on the air of 5 TV channel on April, 27.
“For me the most important are the fighters, the families of fallen soldiers and volunteer battalions that are at the frontline. Battalions which were included to the units of the Interior Ministry and Armed Forces are still volunteers for me,” said Yevhen Terehov.
ATO veteran has noted that his priority tasks as minister adviser are medical and psychological rehabilitation of soldiers. Today, state cannot meet the needs of all former military because of lacking funds and special rehabilitation centers. That’s why volunteers are forced to seek assistance from friendly countries of the European Union, which have a developed system of medical institutions aimed at combatants’ rehabilitation. According to Yevhen Terehov, during the years of war in the east there are thousands of fighters who have returned back from the front without any physical injuries, but who need psychological support because of concussions. Assistance to such victims should be provided primarily by former military as psychologists without adequate preparation cannot always cope with shocks and injuries received in war. In the absence of special rehabilitation 90% of families of shell-shocked fighters are destroyed.
The UKROP representative has added that almost every day he receives many requests from the relatives of former military from all over the country asking for help.
“I cannot get past them. For me, this is all native – every guy or girl who went through the war. I have no right to refuse them,” said Yevhen Terehov.
