Leadership of Lviv region should finally find out who were among those representatives of the local self-government who signed memorandum on receiving garbage from the city and what kind of responsibility is placed upon every claimed community. This has been stated by the MP elected in the 123th constituency, Head of the UKROP political council Taras Batenko in an interview for “Zolochiv.net”.

“After signing the memorandum, which is quite normal in terms of solving the garbage problem, a number of mayors said that they had not signed the document. Therefore, it is necessary to understand who exactly has signed it and whether the opinion of local communities, whose territory will be used for placing solid waste from Lviv, is taken into account,” said Taras Batenko.

The MP has noted that among one of the memorandum signatories were Zolochiv municipal authorities. However, the town has no landfill for domestic solid waste and will place them on the territory of Yelyhovetsky village council that twice has taken decision to prohibit further accumulation of garbage on the landfill.

“The opinion of the community was not taken into account in this situation, in fact it was ignored. Every head of local community should take responsibility for it within their authority,” said Taras Batenko.

At the same time the politician considers the limit of 30 tons of waste, which according to the memorandum should be received daily by Yelyhovetsky landfill, to be obviously excessive.

It is to be recalled, on April 21, the leadership of Lviv and 19 towns in the region signed a memorandum on cooperation in receiving Lviv garbage by local landfills.
