Ukraine’s appeal to the UN International Court of Justice concerning financing of terrorism in the East of our country by Russia has shown again the reluctance of the Ukrainian authorities to recognize Russian aggression. The MP from UKROP Vitaliy Kupriy has written it on his Facebook page.
The politician has also noted that during the announcement of the interim judgment in the case on restrictive measures imposed on Russia for violating conventions on combating financing of terrorism and elimination of racial discrimination, the chief judge Ronny Abraham said that the court expected the parties to join their efforts and work on implementation of the agreements reached in Minsk in order to put an end to the conflict in eastern Ukraine.
“The court has actually recognized Minsk agreements as a legal act. Although these agreements are signed by unauthorized persons and were not ratified by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and are not supported by the Ukrainian society,” said Vitaliy Kupriy.
The MP has added that such a conclusion could be drawn only if the Ukrainian party refers to Minsk agreements in the court by itself and supports them.
“And this is denial of the military aggression, transferring conflict to the internal level, which consequently results in our defeat on all legal fronts! Ukraine is deliberately going to losing cases in courts against the aggressor,” said the UKROP representative.
Vitaliy Kupriy has also appealed to the Ministry of Justice demanding to provide the full text of Ukraine’s claims to the International Court of Justice in the case against Russia in order to consider in detail the legal position of the official Kyiv.
