The credits of the International Monetary Fund have actually turned Ukraine into a hostage of this organization. This was stated by the member of the UKROP political council, MP Taras Batenko in the program “Right to Rule” on the air of “1+1” TV channel on April 6. “We realize that we smother our own voice. This is actually a noose, tightened by the IMF. The Ukrainians continue to go around the circle of poverty, being held hostage by the IMF,” said Taras Batenko.

The MP has stressed that according to the UN statistics more than 60% of our citizens live below the poverty line. This percentage does not decrease, in particular, because of the IMF loans, which are often provided on unfavorable conditions for Ukraine. The UKROP representative has called on the authorities to be cautious and not to rush in implementing the controversial demands of the latest Memorandum, without taking into account public opinion.

This, for example, concerns the land market – the initiative that is not supported by more than 80% of Ukrainians. “As a representative of the “Ukrainian Patriots Association” I want to say that at this stage of social relations we certainly stand for continuation of the moratorium on sale of agricultural land,” said Taras Batenko.

According to the MP, the moratorium should be continued every year until the authorities prove through a public debate the validity of the land market and introduce restrictions on its sale in order to protect the interests of farmers. While at this stage they should revise conditions for leasing agricultural lands so that this could finally give income to their owners.
