The expected decision on granting visa-free regime between the EU and Ukraine will not bring the desired sense of relief, because most Ukrainians will not be able to use it because of poverty. This was stated by the MP from UKROP Irina Konstankevych on the air of parliamentary TV channel “Rada” on April 6.
“For most Ukrainians this will not solve their material and economic problems. Up to 90% of people will not be able to take advantage of this opportunity,” said Iryna Konstankevych. The MP has noted that visa-regime regime should be a window of opportunity for the young people who study and want to see the world. However, the main priority for the authorities still has to be resolution of economic problems and reform of the country. This is, for example, directly related to the activity of the National Agency on Corruption Prevention, which has actually disrupted two waves of e-declaration. The Agency has not managed to complete the work that was begun by 99%, but its management continues to insist on their “revolutionary” work.
According to Iryna Konstankevych, the MPs should have paid attention to NAZK’s inaction much earlier, because Parliament should not only adopt laws, but also monitor their implementation. If the head of such an institution declares failure in restoring order in the team, his or her competence is to be questioned first of all. The decision that will organize the work of NAZK should be found as soon as possible. “Our position is to be consolidated and very categorical, because this is directly linked to the implementation of reforms, we were standing and fighting for,” said the representative of UKROP.
