MPs from the “Ukrainian Patriots Association – UKROP” have registered in Parliament a bill amending the law on commercial accounting for gas (№ 6277-1). The point is that the entities providing distribution of natural gas in the respective territory (regional gas companies) are obliged to install individual meters for domestic consumers, and not collective metering devices.
This was stated on April, 4 during a press-briefing in Parliament by the chairman of the “Ukrainian Patriots Association – UKROP” political council, MP Taras Batenko.
“We want to provide a special paragraph in law, which will give people the right to install individual meters at the expense of the regional gas companies, as the price for it is already included in tariff, and therefore people will pay only for actual gas consumption,” said Taras Batenko.
The MP has emphasized that citizens should not overpay for gas, especially since it does not meet either the quality of the natural gas or the level of services provided by the regional gas companies.
At the same time UKROP requires to restart the work of the National Commission for state regulation of energy and public utilities (NKREKP) and dismiss its acting chairman Dmytro Vovk, who actually serves some oligarchs with his actions. On the NKREKP initiative the Ukrainians pay already for electricity at higher rates through a dubious Rotterdam+ formula. And now the Commission headed by Dmytro Vovk wants to make citizens pay their money even to the bills of private regional gas companies by introducing a monthly fee. The party demands to cancel the regulator’s decision. According to the MP from UKROP Valentyn Didych, this decision will first of all hit the most vulnerable social groups and villagers.
“We are strongly against any senseless decisions, which are also criminal. So we will fight and we will win, as the entire Ukrainian people stands for us,” said the MP. In her turn, the MP Iryna Konstankevych has stressed that if the license fee is introduced, the bills for gas will be unaffordable for nearly 80% of citizens.
“We will protect the interests of people and fight against such exploitation and inhuman policy of our authorities,” said Iryna Konstankevych. UKROP also notes that Dmytro Vovk holds his post contrary to applicable law, under which NKREKP cannot be headed by a person who has worked in this field less than five years.
