The main purpose of the Ukrainian authorities should be regaining control over the occupied territories, but not over the enterprises of some oligarchs, even if they pay taxes to Ukraine’s state budget. This was stated on March 16 by the MP from UKROP Oleksandr Shevchenko in the program “Right to Rule” on “1+1” TV channel.

“Where the line of this trade should be drawn? How many more our citizens should we lose in order to ensure someone’s trading and telling us about some taxes. But any amount of taxes is not worth the life of the Ukrainian military. We do not need any money from these territories,” said Oleksandr Shevchenko, noting that the problem with companies captured by the aggressor and its henchmen should be resolved in the international courts.

The MP has also noted that any exchange of goods with the occupied territories means actual or offshore trade with terrorists. So it is pointless to hope to win in the so-called anti-terrorist operation, while Ukraine is financing the enemy by itself. At the same time the authorities significantly exaggerate the role of coal from the occupied territories for domestic thermal generation, as electricity from nuclear power stations can compensate shortfalls, and at much lower price.

The representative of UKROP has also stressed that the decision of the National Security and Defense Council on economic blockade of the uncontrolled territories was one of the first steps of the authorities towards people. However, for some reason in the official document, which was allegedly adopted for returning Ukrainian enterprises, there is no single word on releasing prisoners from captivity, which was the main demand of the blockade activists from the very beginning.
