Ivano-Frankivsk city and regional party organizations of UKROP consider unacceptable that the Mayor Ruslan Martsinkiv and his associates from Svoboda have turned a rally against tariffs, oligarchs and repressions into a savage Sabbath. This is said in a joint statement of the party organizations on the use of racist and xenophobic slogans during the action mentioned above that was organized by the city party cell of Svoboda, Pravyi Sector and the National Corps “Azov”.
During the rally the guests from Svoboda, who were invited by the organizers, allowed themselves some xenophobic attacks, and participants of the march chanted “One race, one nation, one Fatherland!”
“We do not understand why they have chosen this provocative formula. We suspect that with racism and “political repression” they are trying to distract people’s attention from everyday facts of officials’ corruption, in particular of Ivano-Frankivsk Mayor Ruslan Martsinkiv, as the law enforcement agencies are already interested in his corrupt actions,” says the statement.
The party does not rule out that the “savage passages” in the Svoboda members’ speeches will have an impact on tourism, investment attractiveness of Ivano-Frankivsk and the city reputation in general. The representatives of UKROP have also reminded about the criminal responsibility for incitement of national, racial or religious enmity and hatred, as well as for limiting rights or giving privileges on the basis of race, political or other views, ethnic or social origin, property, residence, etc.
“We won’t let turn Ivano-Frankivsk into the place of evil and hatred! UKROP claims its firm opposition to political forces that promote barbarism, racism, nazism and xenophobia!” says the document.
The party representatives have also recalled that they stand for fair tariffs for gas, electricity, utilities and against the use of fraudulent schemes such as Rotterdam plus, which makes energy resources for the Ukrainians the most expensive in Europe.
“About a month ago the UKROP faction in Ivano-Frankivsk City Council appealed to the Mayor Ruslan Martsinkiv with a proposal to convene an extraordinary session in order to express Councils’ position concerning support of the blockade of bloody trade, which enriches separatist authorities and oligarchic clans. However, while most city councils of Ivano-Frankivsk region have approved their statements in support of the blockade, Ruslan Martsinkiv did not even convene a session,” notes the statement.
