On February 17 the MPs registered in the Verkhovna Rada a draft resolution “On creation of the Temporary Investigation Commission of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for checking all the aspects of supplying goods and services to the temporarily occupied territories and the territory of the anti-terrorist operation and from there” (№ 6094). The authors of the document are the deputies from the UKROP party Taras Batenko, Valentyn Didych, Oleksandr Dubinin, Vitaliy Kupriy, Iryna Konstankevych, Oleksandr Shevchenko and Viktor Shevchenko.
“As the MPs who support the action of volunteers who impede trade between Ukraine and the occupied areas of Donbas, we demand to create a Temporary Investigation Commission (TIC) for checking all the aspects of supplying goods and services to the temporarily occupied territories and from there, and to consider immediately the bill on the status of the occupied territories,” states the explanatory note to the draft resolution.
The representatives of UKROP are convinced that war for independence and trade with the occupants are incompatible. Nevertheless, bilateral trade flow between Ukraine and uncontrolled areas and smuggling that feed the so-called LNR and DNR continue. Thus, the TIC has to investigate all the aspects of trading with the temporarily occupied territories, to collect evidence of corruption and negligence of the officials who cover it, and to submit the relevant materials to the Security Service of Ukraine, the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine and other law enforcement agencies in order to punish the perpetrators.
As a result, the commission should present a public report on its activity and prepare proposals to resolve the situation. The representatives of UKROP call on their colleagues in Parliament to help stop financing of the occupants’ “Grads” and bullets that have been killing the Ukrainians and breaking hundreds of thousands of lives for the third consecutive year.
“We believe that only with a complete economic blockade of the occupied areas it will be possible to break the vicious circle of bloodshed and deaths,” says the document.
It is to be recalled, on February 21 near the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on the initiative of the “Ukrainian Patriots Association – UKROP” there will be held a rally in support of the bill on temporarily occupied territories and total economic blockade of ORDLO. The event will be attended by the party representatives and supporters, veterans of the anti-terrorist operation and volunteers. UKROP has also called on the patriots to join the action and appealed to the democratic forces – People’s Front, Batkivshchyna, Samopomich, Svoboda and all responsible MPs who are concerned about the fate of Ukraine, to support the bill on the status of the occupied territories.
