Emergency measures in the energy sector, introduced by the Cabinet of Ministers, do not solve the problem of energy shortages at the Ukrainian thermal power stations. The Head of the “Ukrainian Patriots Association – UKROP” political council, MP Taras Batenko said it commenting on to the journalists.
“In current situation the state of emergency in the energy sector does not solve anything. It looks more like a “psychological state of emergency”, when they are experiencing emotions of the Ukrainian nation,” said Taras Batenko.
The politician says that the energy problem is in any way an artificial one, because there are effective ways to cover the deficit of coal of anthracite group. First of all, Ukraine should use the facilities of Burshtyn TPP, which currently exports electricity to Europe, reorienting it to the home market. In addition, the government may import coal from abroad according to the so-called Rotterdam plus formula. Finally after rise in temperature the hydropower industry, which partly compensates the needs, will start working.
Taras Batenko has emphasized that from the beginning of ATO government had enough time to diversify anthracite supplies or replace it by alternative fuel. Only with reequipment of several eastern power stations for the coal of gas group it is possible to reduce the need for anthracite at 1-1,5 million tons. All these measures would allow Ukraine to completely refuse getting resources from the occupied territories.
Instead of this, the government has been working with terrorists for the third consecutive year. These actions make Ukraine totally dependent on three railway tracks, which are now blocked by the activists and volunteers, who understand the inadmissibility of trading with the enemy. “The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine instead of being a government of national salvation becomes a government of national capitulation,” is confident Taras Batenko.
