The representatives of the Prosecutor General’s Office are trying to withdraw at the premises of Volyn Regional Council the documents related to licensing of the public company “Volynpryrodresurs” (Volyn natural resources) for amber extraction in the region. The Head of Volyn Regional Council, member of the UKROP party presidium Ihor Palytsya wrote it on his Facebook page on February 15.
“Today the Prosecutor General’s Office visits Volyn Regional Council with searches! According to the decision of the famous Pechersk court, investigators came to withdraw documentation related to licensing of “Volynpryrodresurs” for amber extraction,” wrote Ihor Palytsya.
The politician has mentioned that after granting legal authorization for amber exploration to the public company, the residents of Volyn region first believed that local mineral resources can earn profit to the community, and not to offshore structures or unknown entrepreneurs. According to preliminary calculations, legalization of amber extraction will bring at least one billion hryvnias to the budget of Volyn region. These funds are planned to be used for solving local problems, construction of schools, roads and job creation. This decision made the residents of the region believe in implementation of the declared President’s course towards economic decentralization, stressed Ihor Palytsya.
“People have believed, and those who cover illegal mining, didn’t like it. They are not going to share their illegal earnings with people,” added the politician.
The Head of Volyn Regional State Administration called on the law enforcers, who had failed to confiscate the wealth of Yanukovych and his henchmen and to punish officials for embezzlement of state funds and covering smuggling, to draw conclusions from the events of the Revolution of Dignity and to stop their actions in Volyn region. The representative of UKROP has appealed to the Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko with a request to take in the situation and take necessary measures concerning his employees.
On February, 15 more than a dozen armed people with machine guns and in armour vests broke in the building of Volyn Regional Council. As the media reported, the unknown intended to withdraw the original session decisions on the public company “Volynpryrodresurs”, despite the fact that the documents are not confidential and are publicly available on the website of the Regional Council.
