The deputies of Volyn Regional Council have appealed to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the President of Ukraine and the Cabinet of Ministers asking to support trade blockade of the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, initiated by ATO veterans. A draft decision on behalf of the deputies was introduced by the Head of Volyn Regional Council, member of the UKROP party presidium Ihor Palytsya.
“This is a full trade blockade of temporarily occupied territories. We should stop taking their coal and everything that is sold here. We can buy South African coal without any problems. Though it is a bit more expensive, there are some fundamental rules that cannot be violated,” said Ihor Palytsya. The politician has stressed that the blockade does not affect humanitarian supplies, as they are intended for the citizens of Ukraine.
The text of appeal states, in particular, that the fake “republics” fill their budgets with contraband schemes, therefore Ukraine gets weapons, drugs, counterfeit alcohol, tobacco, medicines etc. In addition, Kyiv gets coal and petroleum products through the line of separation. “We consider the trade blockade as an effective way to influence the militants and their Russian curators,” says the document.
Thus, Volyn Regional Council demands to impose moratorium on import and export of goods from the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine, except for humanitarian aid, which is transported under the supervision of the OSCE or the Red Cross. The deputies also call on to take measures at the legislative level to tighten control over the movement of persons across the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine and to investigate granting permits for wholesale supply of products from the occupied Donbas.
Volyn Regional Council also requires the government to stop persecution of veterans of the volunteer battalions who initiated the blockade of trade with the terrorists in Luhansk and Donetsk regions.
“The current situation requires immediate reaction and decisive, effective actions of the authorities. We, deputies of Volyn Regional Council, insist that public authorities do their best to stop trade and economic relations with the enemy as soon as possible. The Ukrainians are strong people and they deserve strong power that can protect them,” summed up the deputies.
