A public utility company “Volyn natural resources” received a license for exploration of amber, peat and copper. The Head of Volyn Regional Council, member of the UKROP party presidium Ihor Palytsya said it during his annual report at the 10th session of the Regional Council. The politician is convinced that this will give an opportunity to the company, which belongs to the community, to gain from 500 million to 1 billion hryvnias. The funds will be distributed among local, district and regional budgets according to the formula 25х25х50.

“Today I was sent specials permits from the State Service for Geology and Mineral Resources for 20 years’ extraction of amber on 51,000 hectares of land, and peat – on 9 thousand hectares and copper mining on 3.1 thousand hectares. We have received the resource, and if there are no obstacles, we will get at least 500 million on account of the regional budget, which will be spent on the needs of community. But I hope that Volyn region will get up to billion hryvnias,” said the Head of the Regional Council.

Ihor Palytsya has explained that currently in Volyn region it is important to think of filling the local budgets at different levels, because of increasing burden on them within decentralization – they are charged with funding of technical and comprehensive schools and medical institutions.

At the same time the Head of the Regional Council has appealed to the law enforcement agencies and local government bodies asking them to ensure the work of the company “Volyn natural resources”, as there may be a real struggle for land shares and territories, where the company will be operating.

The politician has also mentioned that the public company is going to get a license for oil and gas extraction, as well as for sand and gravel extraction and the use of forest resources. According to him, they already have started to work at returning public forest to the community.

“Wood is exported and the community does not get anything. It is wrong. We want to start stocking ponds with fish, taking control over sand and gravel extraction, so that the money could be used for road repairs. We have huge plans,” said the Head of the Regional Council.
