The MP from UKROP Vitaliy Kupriy has revealed another corruption scheme of the Ukrainian Railways (Ukrzaliznytsia), which harmed the company with losses of 74 million hryvnias. According to the MP, the management of JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” and affiliated state companies continue deliberately their inaction and pay untimely for supplied goods and services, and then lose the cases before the court, initiated by private companies for improper performance of the contract. As a result, the railways pay fines, penalties, inflation and legal fees, but do not deliberately penalize private contractors that violate timing of agreements concluded with them.
“Corruption scheme is that due to UZ management inaction private companies appropriate funds mentioned above and return a part of them as a payoff. Such actions cause million losses to the State Budget of Ukraine. I had informed the State Audit Service of Ukraine about this, and it fully confirmed my information about UZ corruption schemes and the material damage of million hryvnias,” wrote the MP on his Facebook page.
According to Vitaliy Kupriy, the biggest damage was caused to the state company “Odesa Railway” (18.3 million losses), SE “Southern Railway” (15.1 million), STDU “South-Western Railway” (14.3 million).
The MP has also informed that on January 25 he appealed to the NABU Director Artem Sytnyk and Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko on the matter of this criminal offense.
