The MP from UKROP Vitaliy Kupriy has registered in the Verkhovna Rada a draft resolution “On termination of cooperation between state or municipal companies and banks of the country-aggressor” (№ 5383). According to the politician, Ukraine should apply such a mechanism of influence on the Russian Federation, as extension of sanctions does not have the desired impact.

“The banking sector is one of the most important for the Ukrainian economy. In recent years, the share of the Russian capital in Ukraine’s banking sector has significantly increased. This is a threat to national security of Ukraine, as state and municipal companies, institutions and organizations that are serviced at these banks fall into dependence on the aggressor state. The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine should take urgent measures to stop cooperation of state and municipal companies with banks, controlled by the country-aggressor,” said Vitaliy Kupriy.

The draft resolution proposes to recommend the Cabinet of Ministers to forbid cooperation between state or municipal companies and subsidiaries of Russian banks, to check out accounts of such enterprises and institutions in the banks controlled by the Russian Federation. After this, the NBU should provide refinancing of the Ukrainian banks that are willing to take on credit obligations of state and municipal enterprises in the Russian financial institutions. In addition, all state and municipal property in Ukraine should be released of the Russian banks pledge. According to Vitaliy Kupriy, implementation of such a resolution does not need any additional expenditures from the state budget.
