In the Verkhovna Rada the MPs have registered a draft law, which proposes to give the right to early retirement for women who gave birth to three or more children and brought up them. The draft law № 5343 on amendments to the Law of Ukraine “On compulsory state pension insurance” has been prepared by the MPs from UKROP Taras Batenko, Iryna Konstankevych, Valentyn Didych, Oleksandr Shevchenko, Oleksandr Dubinin, Vitaliy Kupriy, Andriy Denysenko and Victor Shevchenko.

If it is adopted, mothers with many children will have the right to early retirement after the age of 55, with at least 20 years of pensionable service.

“Our initiative is a social one. We want the society to pay attention to women who gave birth to three or more children and brought up them. Now it is necessary to support the institution of family and the role of mothers. In addition, these women often combine family and work, therefore they deserve the right to early retirement,” explained Iryna Konstankevych. The MP has added that introduction of this regulation will be an additional incentive for women to have children.

According to the text of the draft law, the regulation on early retirement will not be applied to women who shirk their responsibilities on bringing up children or who are deprived of parental rights, brutally treat children, exploit them, suffer from chronic alcoholism or drug addiction, or have an outstanding conviction for committing intentional crime. The retirement age will not be reduced for those mothers whose children have committed a deliberate crime.

“We will convey our position to our colleagues in Parliament. I hope that common sense and knowledge of the real situation in society will prevail,” said Iryna Konstankevych.
