The draft law № 5326, which proposes to oblige entrepreneurs to label goods of Russian origin, is registered in the Verkhovna Rada.
One of the co-authors of this legislative initiative, MP from UKROP Vitaliy Kupriy said it on November 1 during the press briefing in the Verkhovna Rada. The draft law was also signed by the MPs from the inter-faction union UKROP Taras Batenko, Iryna Konstankevych, Valentyn Didych, Victor Shevchenko, Oleksandr Dubinin and Oleksandr Shevchenko.
“Today we have submitted a draft law, providing obligatory labeling of goods produced by the aggressor country and strict sanctions against violators of this requirement,” said Vitaliy Kupriy. According to the MP, the document provides not only fines, but also confiscation of goods and revenues of the entrepreneurs, who sell Russian goods without informing consumers about it.
In addition, the authors of the draft law insist on the need to oblige the representatives of Russian business in Ukraine to mark their signs and logos with an inscription “This is controlled by the aggressor country”. Advertising of Russian goods, represented anywhere – in brochures, on billboards or in mass media – also needs special labeling, stressed Vitaliy Kupriy.
“It should be labeled everywhere. If these are printed materials, it should take at least 10% of the total area of an advertisement. Furthermore, TV and radio adverts should also end with informing of the goods’ origin or business’ owner,” added the MP.
Labeling of Russian goods, as well as sanctions, had to be imposed at the very beginning of the Russian aggression against Ukraine, as demanded by civic activists, said the MP from UKROP Iryna Konstankevych.
“It should be done now if it has not been done before,” emphasized the MP.
According to her, the MPs from UKROP have prepared several draft laws aimed at countering Russia’s economy. In particular, the party representatives have proposed, for the first time in the history of Ukraine, to introduce sectoral sanctions against Russia, starting with the banking sector, and have initiated closure of Russian banks in Ukraine. In addition, the MPs from UKROP have prepared a proposition to create a special register of legal entities of the country-aggressor.
