Ihor Palytsya swam across the lake Zhoranske in Volyn 1.5 kilometers in length

On October, 7 the Head of Volyn Regional Council, member of the presidium of the UKROP party political council Ihor Palytsya took part in a swim race at the lake Zhoranske in Lubomilskiy district of Volyn region.

The main purpose of the intitiative, which was joined by the MP Ihor Guz and 9 swimmers, including one woman, was to promote healthy lifestyle. So none of the participants set the task to get to the shore first. The swim race, which started at 15.05, lasted 30 minutes.

Ihor Palytsya told he had swum 1.5-km distance for the first time.

“Everybody in Ukraine knows about the lake Svitiaz, and this lake is less known. But today more people will learn about it, there will be more tourists and, hence, more funds for community development,” said Ihor Palytsya.

Participants of the swim race did not exclude that such an action in support of a healthy and active lifestyle will be held every year.

The event was held despite quite unfavorable weather. Participants were protected with special swimwear. But Leonid Gavrilyuk, who was the first to cover the distance, did not need any protective equipment – for many years he has been going in for winter swimming. About 200 people came to support the swimmers.

After the end of the race everyone was served kulish, fish soup, dried fruits and healthy herbal tea.

Note: The length of the Lake Velyke Zhoranske is 1.5 kilometers. Maximum depth is 20 meters. The lake is a popular holiday destination among the residents of Volyn region.
