“Ukrainian Patriots Association – UKROP” appeals to all patriotic political forces and calls on to join their efforts in order to develop a common strategy for saving the country. This is stated in the resolution of the IX Congress of UKROP Party, which provides assessment of the current political and economic situation in the country.
“If we don’t offer an alternative way today, tomorrow we will be late forever. The mission of the UKROP party is to find this alternative way and to implement it for the benefits of all the Ukrainians, including those who are now in the occupied Donbas and Crimea,” states the text of the resolution.
According to the delegates of the UKROP Party Congress, two and a half years after the tragic events on the Maidan none of the demands of Revolution of Dignity was fulfilled, and the state is still alien to its citizens. While the nation was fighting against aggressor in East Ukraine, the old elite and crony system revived under new guises and continues to plunder the country and transform it into a failed state, stressed the representatives of UKROP.
The party emphasizes that it is inadmissible to impose utility rates, unaffordable for the majority of the Ukrainians, under the guise of IMF loans, driving people into the poverty trap. The members of UKROP also consider the draft budget for 2017 to be irresponsible, as the government wants to fill it through elimination of benefits for agriculture and small businesses and privatization of state property at give-away prices. Passing on social obligations to the local budgets under the guise of decentralization will hurt medicine, science and infrastructure most – and these are the sectors enabling Ukraine’s competitiveness, consider the party members.
Another sensitive issue is related to the negotiations on the Donbas, where the ruling elite does not show any political will, instead of this continuing illicit trading with the terrorists, fraud and disorder.
Only consolidation of true patriots can save the country, are convinced the members of UKROP. “Only together we can defend our national interests. Only together we will win!” states the Party Congress resolution.
