For five months Volyn region has been deprived of revenue from customs and due to this the budget has lost about 200 million hryvnias. The Head of Volyn Regional Council and the member of the presidium of the political council of the “Ukrainian Patriots Association – UKROP” Ihor Palytsya said it during the 7th extraordinary session of the Regional Council.
According to the Head of the region, such a situation is related to the fact that the acting Head of Volyn Customs Office Oleksandr Shavlak, who was transferred from Chernihiv customs, does not ensure proper operation.
“What do you think, why was the previous Head of Volyn customs office dismissed? He told as he passed over 600 thousand dollars to Kyiv, and was required to pay a million. I am ready to confirm this information if I am called in for questioning, said Ihor Palytsya. – They have appointed Shavlak, who, according to the State Fiscal Service, was transferred from Chernihiv Customs Office, where illegal traffic of cigarettes was revealed. Grodno Tobacco Factory products were imported from the Russian side, but officially there were allegedly empty cars. Shavlak was behind all this, and now he covers contraband traffic here. It is not important for us if he passes 600 thousand dollars or a million to the capital. Our region has lost 200 million, and he must take responsibility for this.”
The Head of Volyn Regional Council has appealed to the Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman, asking to appoint a new Head of Volyn Customs Office. According to Ihor Palytsya, Volodymyr Groysman has promised that within 10 days they will appoint an “adequate person”, who will report on his work to the Council.
