Public commission for supervision and control over activities of the organizations, providing services to Hrybovytske landfill, requires the representatives of the city authorities to submit for examination all documents concerning priority stabilization works at the landfill site. This is one of the requirements of civic activists. The full list was read and signed today during the meeting of the public commission and executives of Lviv City Council.
In particular, the document states that it is necessary to sign an agreement between Andriy Sadovyi and public commission for supervision and control over the activities of organizations working at Hrybovytske landfill. Another requirement is to prohibit any works at the landfill from 29 August to 5 September. During this time, members of the public commission should receive and examine the necessary documentation. In addition, community insists on the need to start developing a new draft project for Hrybovytske landfill reclamation.
If these demands are not fulfilled, the members of the public commission for supervision and control over service providers at Lviv landfill reserve the right for protest actions.
It is to be recalled, last week another scandal broke around Hrybovytske landfill. On August, 26 residents of the villages, situated near the landfill, blocked several roads, protesting against the fact that, as they said, the closed landfill is used for waste disposal, and the area nearby is prepared for a new landfill.
Activists of UKROP have recorded video with the watchman saying that the cars of the LCC “Zbyranka”, which is subject to Lviv City Council, were driving into the landfill. However, the deputy chairman of the City Commission for Emergency Situations Irina Marunyak has denied that dangerous landfill continue to accept waste. According to her, there are some stabilization works, aimed at reinforcing dams and hedging the territory of the landfill.
During the protests, activists have created a public commission consisting of 23 people and including the representatives from every village in the risk zone, environmentalists, deputies of local councils, representatives of regional and municipal authorities. In public commission there are three representatives of UKROP: Ihor Muravskyi, deputy of Zhovkva district council, chairman of the district commission on ecology, Ihor Zinkevych and Lubomir Bosanevych, deputies of Lviv City Council.
