Being fed up with waiting for trial on Ilovaisk tragedy, which was promised to be started last year, families of those killed, wounded and captured in the battle for Ilovaisk are preparing a class action lawsuit against the Ministry of Defence and the General Staff with the requirement to identify the guilty of the fact that the Ukrainian military got into the mousetrap.

The curator of Kryvbas battalion, Head of the UKROP party organisation in Kryvyi Rih Mykola Kolesnik said it on August, 29 during the memorial events on Mykhailivska Square on the second anniversary of Ilovaisk tragedy, commemorating the death of the Ukrainian soldiers.

“Within legal framework we are going to strive for appropriate assessment of the events in Ilovaisk and Debaltseve. It is necessary to bring to justice people guilty of senseless murder of the best and brightest,” he commented to the journalists.

Curator of “Kryvbas” has also reminded that last year he provided the investigators with code messages of orders, giving evidence that the battalion and other units had stormed Ilovaisk not at someone’s initiative, but at the order of senior military authorities of the state. So they should be responsible for the death and severe injury of Ukrainian military in Ilovaisk mousetrap. And the participants of these events and their relatives should receive appropriate status and compensation, which they cannot get for two years, he said.

According to Mykola Kolesnik, every fifth soldier of Kryvbas battalion was killed in military actions in eastern Ukraine. 18 fighters of the battalion have gone missing. Two of them are in captivity since the events in Debaltseve. However, families of those who are missing, have no benefits either from local or from central government. According to him, the City Council of Kryvyi Rih will soon make decision on allocating non-recurrent financial aid.
