Dnipro Mayor Borys Filatov has expressed his opinion on the cancelled briefing, where the organizing committee of the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 was to announce the host city of the musical event.
“The fourth postponement of the announcement of the Eurovision 2017 host city. At first – it was until 1st August. Then – until the Independence Day. Then – today. And now it is the next week. The whole country has lost almost 2 (two) precious months! Shame and disgrace,” wrote Borys Filatov on his Facebook page.
Later he has updated his post, adding a comment to the message of the Director of the National Television Company of Ukraine Zurab Alasania, who has written on his page in the social network that among three finalists there are two cities – Kyiv and Odessa – that have significant advantages.
“Instead of apologizing and explaining the situation, Mr. Alasania has ingeniously decided to give priority to two candidates before the end of the results announcement. The fate of Dnipro seems to be already determined in advance by these smarts in Kyiv. They have even announced it in advance,” said the Mayor of Dnipro.
It is to be noted that the press briefing, where the organizing committee was going to announce the winner of the battle of the cities, was to take place on 25th August at 15.00. And half an hour before its start on the Governmental portal there was the information that it was cancelled.
Last week Borys Filatov called on the organizing committee of the Eurovision 2017 to hurry up with choosing the host city of the contest, as delay put in doubt timekeeping in preparing facilities and has a negative impact on the enthusiasm of the finalist cities: Odessa, Dnipro and Kyiv.
