UKROP is collecting signatures for moratorium on raising utility rates

Deputies and activists of the political party “Ukrainian Patriots Association – UKROP” have begun collecting signatures for a moratorium on raising utility rates from August 1, 2016. According to the initiators of the action, collecting signatures started at the same time in all regions of Ukraine and is rapidly gaining momentum: for example, in Lviv only during the first few days UKROP’s idea has been supported by several thousand people.

“We, the “Ukrainian Patriots Association – UKROP”, call on municipal authorities of Khmelnytsky region to stop manipulating  with citizens’ awareness and insist on taking concrete steps to resolve the issue of the moratorium on raising utility tariffs,” is said in UKROP’s appeal to the representatives of the local authorities in Khmelnytsky region. According to the activists, only moratorium can stop declining living standards of the Ukrainians, at the time when people’s incomes drop to the lowest level and prices for all essential goods rise.

In their turn, the representatives of UKROP in Sumy region have pointed out the illegality of the government’s decision on raising utility rates that was repeatedly confirmed by the lawyers.

Meanwhile, the activists of UKROP in Mykolaiv region have appealed to local deputies with the request to support moratorium on raising utility tariffs, as it is stated in the petition. “I demand that the deputies of Mykolaiv Regional Council support UKROP’s position and put moratorium on raising utility tariffs,” says the document.

According to the initiators of the action, the Ukrainians in all regions understand that only moratorium can stop increase in tariffs, thereby collecting signatures is actively going on. The largest number of signatures has been collected in Zaporizhia region, were campaign started a few months ago.
