Dnipro Mayor Borys Filatov and Adviser to the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine, expert of the Agency for Electronic Governance Yanika Merylo have presented the program “Children of Dnipro IT», providing the opportunity for the young residents to study information technology.

“Today, we present an extremely important educational program on IT for children. Experts will work with children for about 6 months. They will show how to print using 3D-printer, control robots, fly drones and mars rovers. In addition, young city residents will be able to work on their own inventions, to equip them with the necessary functions and present their innovations at different competitions. We want children to discover a little wonderland of IT,” said Yanika Merylo.

The Mayor Borys Filatov in his turn has thanked Yanika Merylo for everything she does together with her Estonian colleagues for Dnipro. “Currently, we have a lot of electronic services that work for the good of the city. These are the electronic document flow system UkrDoc, interactive map of road repair, Internet service “Open Budget” and other IT tricks that allow to use rationally and efficiently the budget funds, to make quick and effective decisions, and make local government more open,” said the Mayor of Dnipro.

The project “Children of Dnipro IT” is designed for the children from orphanages and children of ATO participants aged from 11 to 14 years. The group of 10 teenagers is already listed. Training will take place in the Central City Library. In addition to theoretical lessons, there will be practical training and excursions. Young IT pros will also be able to meet with robots and drones developers.

During presentation of the program ATO participants, who completed computer literacy training program within the Estonian program “Window of opportunity”, received their diplomas. The idea of the project is to teach the basics of computer literacy. Those who are interested in IT will continue learning within the program Coding ForFuture and will master the basic level of programming. Besides Dnipro this program also works in Kharkiv and Lviv.
