The MP and the member of the presidium of UKROP political council Vitaliy Kupriy has sent a deputy’s appeal to the Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman, Director of the National Investigation Bureau Artem Sytnyk and Head of PJSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” (UZ) Wojciech Balczun concerning the plans of the railway to buy steel products at overvalued prices.

“I have found out that the officials of PJSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” make the management of their affiliated state enterprises get involved in corruption schemes for embezzling over 24 million hryvnias,” wrote Vitaliy Kupriy on his Facebook page.

According to the MP, the members of the board of “Ukrzaliznytsia” E. Kravtsov, O. Marina and S. Mykhalchuk require that PJSC “Korosten plant of ferroconcrete sleepers” and PJSC “Hnivan plant of special reinforced concrete” make contracts with LLC “Euromist” and PE “Production and trade company Eurometiz” for the supply of steel products for repairing the railway line at overvalued prices.

However, managers of the plants have found the opportunity to buy the necessary certified products at a lower price, saving 24 million hryvnias, said the politician. They have repeatedly informed the UZ representatives about this, and asked them to agree the contracts. Despite this, in early July 2016 these plants received letters from the UZ management, where it insisted on purchasing steel products at inflated prices, said Vitaliy Kupriy.

“Such actions of the UZ officials run counter to the state interests, hinder well-timed repair of the railway, and thereby endanger lives of passengers and safety of cargo transported by railway in Ukraine. In addition, it will lead to the waste of funds of public enterprises in a terrible economic situation,” stressed the politician.

Thus the MP requires that Wojciech Balczun support the management of these plants in the intentions to buy cheaper products, carry out an internal investigation and punish those who may be involved in a possible embezzlement of funds that could be used, for example, for increasing wages of the employees.
