The National Anti-Corruption Bureau started investigation into the ATO military prosecutor Konstantin Kulyk, basing on the appeal of the MP from UKROP Vitaliy Kupriy. The Head of NABU Artem Sytnyk said it on July, 6 at the meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Preventing and Combating Corruption.

“Kulyk’s case was not our initiative. There was an appeal of the people’s deputy of Ukraine, as I remember – it was Vitaliy Kupriy. Thus there was a reason for registering and carrying out some investigation, collecting the evidences, and then detectives formed a suspicion and agreed it with the prosecutor,” he said.

The people’s deputy of Ukraine, the member of the presidium of UKROP political council Vitaliy Kupriy appealed to the NABU on the crimes committed by Konstantin Kulyk under the articles 364, 368-2, 209, 258-5 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine in December last year. In particular, the MP asked the Head of Anti-Corruption Bureau Artem Sytnyk to verify the information from the media about existence of 4 apartments, parking, office space and three cars, owned by the civil servant Kulyk and his cohabitant Iryna Nimets that they have purchased during the last year and a half.

In addition, the MP pointed out that journalists had found out about Kulyk’s connection with the leader of terrorist organization “Oplot” Yevgen Zhylin, his involvement in “protection racket” of conversion centres in Kharkiv, financial fraud and illegal
assignment of pledged assets. Also, as the media says, the prosecutor’s mother – pensioner Svitlana Kulyk – is a founder of the company, which has recently begun to win tenders for the coal supply to “Ukrzaliznytsia”, amounting to tens of millions hryvnias.

It is to be recalled, the ATO military prosecutor Konstantin Kulyk was removed from office until September 4, 2016. He is suspected of unjust enrichment.
