The Mayor of Dnipro Borys Filatov has told about the authorities’ actions aimed at providing help to the tenants of the house on 74, Yavornytsky Avenue, where last night there was a fire. According to him, the roof repairs will begin tomorrow. And the tenants of the five-story house will get financial and psychological support. Now the committee of the Mayor’s office is working on the scene together with the specialized deputy mayors.
As it is known, the house on Yavornytsky Avenue started to burn at about 3 a.m. – fire ran through 1000 square meters of the roof. It was classified with the fifth – highest – level of complexity. The Mayor of Dnipro Borys Filatov, who arrived on the scene at night, pointed out seamless interaction between firefighters and patrol police, who were helping to evacuate people. Fortunately there were no victims.
The fire has been doused for more than 3 hours. All fire crews of Dnipro were deployed there. The causes of the fire are to be set. One of the versions is short circuit.
“I want to personally thank the staff of the State Emergency Service, firefighters and petrol police. People have worked and they did the impossible. According to the results of the fire liquidation I have decided to reward the most distinguished staff of the patrol police and the firefighters with the medal “Defender of the Motherland”, said the Mayor of Dnipro. Eight representatives of the State Emergency Service and seven policemen are expected to be awarded medals.
At the same time, according to the Mayor, currently none of the tenants of the house has asked for help with accommodation. However, the city authorities have prepared 5 rooms in the hostel in case if anyone needs shelter. In addition, according to the Mayor, a special commission providing financial aid to the people is to be created. Borys Filatov says he will make efforts on the executive committee and the City Council so that the amount of the financial aid to the people affected by the fire could be at least 10 thousand UAH.
