In Dnipro within the social project of the City Council “Children of Dnipro” a municipal patriotic camp starts working. Free vacations have already begun for 300 young city residents. Overall, in summer the camp can host about 3 thousand children. They will learn the basics of orienteering and the elements of Cossack life.
The first session has opened with a bright concert, at the beginning children sang the anthem of Ukraine. The Mayor Borys Filatov, who has also attended the opening, said that it was the most touching moment of the holiday. The Mayor has posted video with children singing the anthem on his Facebook page. According to him, the camp is arranged on the basis of Valentina Tereshkova child care and recreation centre that hosted a patriotic camp “Ukropchyk” last year.
“It is a good thing that we have managed to convince deputies to allocate money for creation of the municipal camp. We will host 10 camp sessions with 300 children in each one. Thus both children and their parents will have the opportunity to have a rest,” said Borys Filatov. He also called on the mayors of other Ukrainian cities to take up the initiative of Dnipro and to organize patriotic summer camps for children.
The municipal camp in Dnipro has got a party hall and creativity room, as well as sports facilities, swimming pool and football field. The animation director, choreographer, heads of clubs, coaches and instructors in swimming are working with the campers. They will organise competitions, quests and concerts for children. Every day in the camp is devoted to different sporting and patriotic themes. There is an organized 5-time balanced meal for children. Borys Filatov has personally checked the menu of the camp canteen.
According to the Mayor of Dnipro, the next step will be the opening of the municipal camp for seniors.
