Amendments to the Verkhovna Rada Regulations that are to be introduced in the Parliament, as it was announced by the Speaker Andriy Parubiy, will make sense only if they ensure the rights of the opposition. The MP and the member of the inter-faction union UKROP Vitaliy Kupriy said in on the air of the NewsOne TV channel.
“If there was respect for the law, it would be necessary firstly to ensure the rights of the opposition,” said Vitaliy Kupriy. According to the MP, a true democracy in the Ukrainian parliament will be possible only after the introduction of the mechanism that would automatically add the bills written by the representatives of the opposition to the agenda for their further discussion in the debating chamber.
“This should be ensured, this would be democratically,” said the politician.
Currently, the MPs who are not the members of the coalition have the only opportunity to influence the work of the Parliament – by blocking the podium or organizing rallies, said the MP. “We are not given the floor, neither our issues are considered. This leads to conflicts in the Parliament. They may spill out. And this is a dangerous situation for the country,” said Vitaliy Kupriy.
The MP has also noted that before introducing the amendments to the parliamentary regulations the Speaker Andiy Parubiy should ensure compliance with the current law, which, despite Speaker’s promises is systematically violated.
It is to be recalled, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada has stated that this week the Parliament may consider the amendments to the law on the Verkhovna Rada Regulations elaborated in cooperation with the Mission of the European Parliament.
