Dnipropetrovsk Mayor Borys Filatov has written a letter to the Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman with a proposal to hold Eurovision in Dnipropetrovsk. The document is to be delivered to Kyiv today. According to the mayor, the decision to hold the contest in this city will be the first step towards the real development of the regions of Ukraine and will attract financial resources for improving the infrastructure.

“It would be a very significant event for our city,” said Borys Filatov.

The mayor is convinced that it is possible to bring the city infrastructure in line with the needs of Eurovision during this year. Borys Filatov claims that there are enough hotels in Dnipropetrovsk, and many other places to stay in. “We can put into the water along the riverwalk large cruise ships that can be used, particularly, as hotels,” he said. In addition, the mayor says that the reconstruction of the take-off runway in the city airport is planned for the near future.

As for the possible locations where the competition could be held, Borys Filatov said the following: “We can finish building of the EuroBasket arena, we can carry out capital reconstruction of the sports complex “Meteor”. There is also an excellent stadium in Dnipropetrovsk.”

In addition, the mayor of Dnipropetrovsk considers the competition between the Ukrainian cities for the right to host the contest to be quite normal as it gives them the opportunity to reach a higher level of development.
