Mayor of Dnipropetrovsk Borys Filatov denies that his spokesperson or other members of UKROP could be involved in the incident with the MP Oleksandr Vilkul, who has been attacked with “zelyonka” during the meeting with World War II veterans. As mayor suggests that could be local activists who have had conflict with the representatives of the Opposition Bloc during distribution of certificates to the veterans in the territorial centre of former Babushkinsky district of Dnipropetrovsk.
“Citizens of Dnipropetrovsk and Oleksandr Vilkul have been in a complicated relationship for a long time. I can definitely say that there could not be anybody from UKROP – it is 100 percent true. This is a provocation. The only problem is that Oleksandr Vilkul still cannot realize that there are thousands of people in the city who really hate him,” said Borys Filatov on the air of “112 Ukraine” TV channel.
According to eyewitnesses, the gate around the building, where the MP held a meeting with veterans, was blocked by unknown sporty men. Being afraid of possible provocation, local activists decided to call the police. Some journalists were not let to the meeting. At then suddenly at some point Vilkul was splashed with zelyonka and flour.
Borys Filatov called such actions unacceptable, but noted that Vilkul’s behavior is also outrageous.
“The attempts of Oleksandr Vilkul and other representatives of the Opposition bloc to privatize our victory are disgraceful,” said the mayor of Dnipropetrovsk.
Answering the question why Vilkul has accused Borys Filatov’s team-mates of this incident, he said: “For all his life he has been accusing me of his problems, he always complains about me on his Facebook page. Let him complain, we can only feel sorry for him as for a little girl.”
Today some unknown people have attacked the MP and the deputy head of the Opposition Bloc Oleksandr Vilkul with zelyonka and flour. The incident occurred during the meeting of the MP with World War II veterans in Dnipropetrovsk. Oleksandr Vilkul has called this incident a provocation and accused the team of his political opponent, mayor Borys Filatov.
