Possible early elections to the Verkhovna Rada will enable formation of a functional parliament, but only if they are held under open-list proportional representation system. The MP and the member of the presidium of UKROP political council Vitaliy Kupriy has stated it in an interview to one of online media.
“If these elections are held under the proportional system with open lists, the pro-presidential force can be removed from power, as it has happened after the local elections in Kyiv region, where pro-European democratic parties have formed a majority without the BPP,” said Vitaliy Kupriy, adding that possible early elections will be a challenge for the Ukrainian society as electoral legislation has not been changed and the President Petro Poroshenko does everything possible to preserve the current election law.
The second condition for the fair parliamentary elections, according to the politician, is replacement of those members of the Central Election Commission, whose term of office has expired. But the President is not interested in it, says Vitaliy Kupriy. The MP emphasizes that he stands for the full reset of power, “including the President.”
