On February 10, Pechersky District Court of Kyiv partly satisfied the application submitted by Igor Barsuchenka, Hennadiy Korban's lawyer, concerning the illegal violation against his client and obligation of the politician's hospitalization to provide him with emergency medical care and necessary checkup.
The politician's defender has explained his statement by saying that Gennady Korban can not get a proper medical care because there is no cardiologist in the Temporary Holding Facility. Also confirming his words the defense informed the court that on January 27, man on duty of pre-trial investigation of the department of the Security Service summoned to the suspect Gennady Korban an ambulance brigade.
"Emergency assistance is provided by the PTDC's doctor. And if the assistance cannot be provided entirely, then it should be provided by the medical emergency brigade. Making this call, employees of the pre-trial investigation proved the fact that they cannot provide Gennady Korban with the necessary medical assistance"- told to reporters politician's lawyer Igor Barsuchenko. Also, defender added that the doctors insisted on hospitalization, but the prison authorities refused. He believes that it threatens the life and health of Gennady Korban. That is why lawyers demanded the court to make a decision on the immediate hospitalization of the client.
Making his speech, the judge referred to the European Court of Human Rights concerning the fact that authorities have the right to not providing a proper medical assistance to citizens, and approved to conduct a medical examination to Gennady Korban within the Temporary Holding Facility, where he is in custody.
