Joint press briefing of UKROP members and representatives of the other democratic political forces on the crisis of local self-government in Kyiv

On Monday, February 8, 2016, the representatives of UKROP in Kyiv and seven more democratic political parties will hold a joint press briefing on “Systemic crisis of local self-government in Kyiv”.

Briefing will be held at 10.30, at the press center of the Ukrainian Crisis Media Center at 2 Khreshchatyk street, Kyiv.

Participants of the press briefing are going to discuss the following issues:

  • Decentralization as prerequisite for the development of territorial communities in the capital.
  • Local self-government and basic principles of its implementation in Kyiv districts.
  • Kyiv as the capital of the European level: problems and challenges.
  • Laws and regulations as guarantees of civil rights in Ukraine.

 

Participants of the press briefing:

  • Dmytro Simansky, political party “Ukrainian Patriots Association – UKROP”;
  • Sergiy Gusovsky, political party “Union Samopomich”;
  • representatives of the political parties “All-Ukrainian Union Batkivshchyna”, “Power of People”, “Democratic Alliance”, “All-Ukrainian Union Svoboda”, “Civil Position” and “Republic”.

It is to be recalled, on February 1, according to the Law of Ukraine “On Local elections”, the representatives of UKROP and seven other political parties (Union Samopomich, Democratic Alliance, Power of People, Svoboda, Batkivshchyna, Civil Position and Republic) filed the registration documents for the district election commissions to the CEC.

On January 29, the Head of Kyiv city organization of UKROP Dmytro Simansky together with the leaders of the other city organizations of democratic parties signed an open letter to the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko with the requirement to take immediate measures to prevent disruption of the elections to Kyiv district councils.
