Soon the current government will talk round yet another corruption scandal under far-fetched information pretexts, involving First Deputy Chairman of Petro Poroshenko Bloc Igor Kononenko. Member of UKROP interfactional associations Oleksandr Dubinin said it on air of 112-Ukraine TV-channel.
“Everything will be forgotten exactly in a week. There have been many corruption scandals - and all ended as now the war is beginning, there is escalation in the East, we have a problem with Minsk, the IMF, the money ... some news hook is needed to distract people from the fight against corruption in which their people are involved,” Oleksandr Dubinin said.
“In Ukraine we have already had a similar situation when Valentyn Nalyvaichenko, the former SSU head, published facts that confirm the involvement of Igor Kononenko in corruption schemes, further the relevant information was talked round by sudden escalation of the war in the East, the need for constitutional reforms and the granting of special status to Donbas. Even a temporary committee was not set up to investigate the alleged crimes, not to mention the intervention of the prosecutor's office,” the MP said.
He pointed out that the President had already related to another round of conflict in the ATO zone.
“That's why, despite the scandal, Igor Kononenko will hardly divest himself of his mandate,” Oleksandr Dubinin said. As for Minister Aivaras Abromavičius, according to the MP, he should not just make loud statements, but provide specific facts in this case. In addition, the investigation of such cases requires the establishment of a temporary investigation committee in the Verkhovna Rada together with employees of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade.
Oleksandr Dubinin also said that he and his fellow MPs from UKROP Andriy Denysenko and Vitaly Kupriy had already sent a request to the deputy prosecutor general to investigate into the information made public by Minister Aivaras Abromavičius. However, in his opinion, “judging by the effects of previous investigations and punishment of former Yanukovych’s officials, one may hardly expect any results from the bodies led by Viktor Shokin.”
As it was previously reported, on February 3, Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Aivaras Abromavicius announced his resignation. He accused MP Igor Kononenko of Petro Poroshenko Bloc of blocking of obstructing the ministries’ work and trying to assign “their” people to key offices in the ministry and major state enterprises.
