The decision of Kyiv City District Administrative Court on postponing the elections to the district councils of the capital for an indefinite term violates the right of its citizens to local self-government. This was stated by the head of Kyiv city organization of UKROP and the member of the presidium of UKROP political council Dmytro Simansky.

The politician called such actions the evidence of the fact that the current Ukrainian authorities, like every previous ones, are trying to “preserve power” and take everything under their control, particularly in the capital. Thus the “Ukrainian Patriots Association – UKROP” calls on all political parties and public organizations that care about the fate of millions of Kyivans and their right to choice, to unite in the fight for the elections to Kyiv district councils on March 27.

“We can create some group or political bloc of parties in order to require a very simple and very clear thing in our case – holding the elections to Kyiv district councils on March 27,” said Dmytro Simansky on January 27, during the public discussion on “Extended powers of the district councils of the capital – regeneration of real local self-government”.

At the same time the politician has noted that UKROP is ready to cooperate with pro-Ukrainian democratic forces in any format and using any available political instruments for putting pressure on the authorities. According to Dmytro Simansky, the decision on holding the elections can be also influenced by the MPs from the inter-faction union UKROP, Samopomich, Svoboda and others.
