As long as Hennady Korban’s being politically imprisoned the interim chairman of the political council of the party “Ukrainian Patriots Association – UKROP” will be Denys Borysenko, Head of the Secretariat of the party. Borysenko was elected for performing technical and executive duties in order to ensure the work of the party governing bodies in accordance with its statute and requirements of the law. This decision was made today during the session of UKROP political council in Kyiv. As it was stated during the press conference after the session of political council by the Head of Volyn Regional Council and the member of UKROP political council Ihor Palytsya, because of the political imprisonment Hennady Korban has no opportunity to perform his duties, as required by statute, so now the work of the party is actually paralyzed.
“Temporarily, for the period of Hennady Korban’s imprisonment, until he can perform his duties, it was decided to appoint Denys Borysenko as the chairman of the political council. When Hennady Korban proves his innocence and returns from prison, this decision will be canceled. Therefore, if somebody thinks that Korban’s imprisonment will hinder the party’s work – he is deeply wrong!” said Ihor Palytsya.
He said that Hennady Korban is still the member of the presidium of UKROP political council and the party will continue to fight against political repression and for the politician’s release from jail. As soon as Hennady Korban gets liberty, the political council will re-elect the chairman.
Ihor Palytsya also said that in the nearest time UKROP will hold the party congress in order to nominate the candidates for the elections to Kyiv district councils and local councils in communities that will take place on March 27, 2016.
