The international community is aware of the political motivation in the arrest of the chairman of UKROP political council Hennady Korban and the trial of him, and it can be proved by the presence of the representatives of foreign countries, who are the main international partners of Ukraine, at the hearing of Korban’s case by Kyiv Appeal Court. The MP and the member of UKROP political council Vitaliy Kupriy has written it on his Facebook page.
The MP has reminded that the diplomats of the EU, the US embassy and leading EU states – Germany and Poland – were present during the hearing of the appeal submitted by the lawyers against the politician’s arrest. According to Vitaliy Kupriy, this is a “red flag” to the authorities showing that Hennady Korban’s case has become a political phenomenon in Ukrainian internal policy that demonstrates obvious lack of reforms in judicial and law enforcement systems.
“This shows that Ukraine’s international partners are aware of Hennady Korban’s arrest and the trial of him being politically motivated,” said the politician. He has also added that basing on the facts of committed violations and pressure on the trial of the chairman of UKROP political council, the international community draws conclusions on the progress of reforms declared by the authorities, as well as on their unwillingness to implement the proclaimed European democratic values such as the rule of law and the independence of the judiciary.
“I think the authorities should think over the consequences of judicial and prosecution tyranny in the country and stop this lawlessness,” summed up Vitaliy Kupriy.
