Organizing briefings for demonstrating the alleged new evidence of Hennady Korban’s involvement in certain criminal offenses, right on the days of the hearings within his case, the General Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine thereby puts pressure on judges. It was said to the journalists on January 22 at the press briefing after the session of the Court of Appeal of Kyiv, by the lawyer of the chairman of UKROP political council Oksana Tomchuk.

“In my opinion, this is a direct pressure on the court, as it is to be held before the court session,” said the lawyer to the media. However, she believes that the investigators may possibly demonstrate to the journalists the new parts of the so-called Hennady Korban’s “accounting fraud” before every court session on his case.

Oksana Tomchuk has also noted that the defence has got the full list of items withdrawn during the searches at Hennady Korban’s place, but neither during the first nor during the subsequent searches the documents similar to those demonstrated by the Prosecutor’s Office were withdrawn. Moreover, she said, the General Prosecutor’s Office has also provided a video, which allegedly filmed the search of Hennady Korban’s house, but this accommodation does not belong to the politician. “Now we want to find out what accommodation was it,” said Hennady Korban’s lawyer, noting that the defence has some grounds to believe that this video was taken from the other criminal proceedings, which are not related to her client.

According to Oksana Tomchuk, demonstrating more and more evidence of the crimes allegedly committed by Hennady Korban, the General Prosecutor’s Office tries to save the face. After all, in her opinion, even the investigators realise that they have no real evidence in the case, and the society does not accept their accusations seriously.

In his turn, Hennady Korban himself has also denied the authenticity of the “new evidence” in his case, demonstrated by the investigators. “Everything that is demonstrated by the General Prosecutor’s Office has nothing to do with the evidence. And if they really could have anything, if it was the evidence, believe me, they would not show it,” said the suspect after the court session.

It is to be recalled, on January 22, an hour before the hearing of Hennady Korban’s case at the Court of Appeal of Kyiv, the investigators of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine Vladyslav Kutsenko and Mykola Makeyev held a briefing, during which they demonstrated once again the new part of the so-called “accounting fraud”, allegedly withdrawn by the General Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine and the Security Service of Ukraine in the house of the chairman of UKROP political council. In their turn, Hennady Korban’s lawyers have repeatedly stated that they have a list of all the items withdrawn during the search, and there are no such documents there.
