The MP and the member of UKROP political council Vitaliy Kupriy called on the High Council of Justice to consider the dismissal of a judge of Dniprovsk District Court of Kyiv Mykola Chaus at the meeting that is to be held on January 28. The MP has made a relevant application to the HCJ members before today’s meeting.

The politician has mentioned that the question of Mykola Chaus’ dismissal for making deliberately unjust decisions against the activists of the Revolution of Dignity had to be considered by the HCJ on December 17, but then the judge was not present at the meeting allegedly due to his illness. Vitaliy Kupriy has emphasized that there were no valid reasons for his absence, as it is required by law. In a few days Mykola Chaus suddenly recovered, took up his duties at Dniprovsk District Court of Kyiv and even considered the request of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine on changing pretrial restriction for the chairman of UKROP political council Hennady Korban, having organized more than 30-hour hearing within this case.

Vitaliy Kupriy said he had filed a written deputy’s appeal to the High Council of Justice, having indicated the number of additional violations committed by the judge Chaus. In particular, about making decisions permitting the law enforcement to withdraw original lawsuits from the other proceedings that could lead to their falsification. In addition, during the meeting on January 21 the members of the High Council of Justice got a list of violations committed by Mykola Chaus during the trial of Hennady Korban and other detainees within his case.

“I ask you to consider these questions and inform the public about the decision,” said Vitaliy Kupriy and stressed that according to the Article 32 of the law on the High Council of Justice, in case of Mykola Chaus’ repeated non-attendance the HCJ would have the right to consider this question without his participation.
