In the evening on January 18, 2016 the central office of UKROP party was blocked by unknown armed men. Employees of the secretariat of the party were forced to leave the building through one of the emergency exits. And now it is impossible to get into the office of the party.
The attackers have not only surrounded the building, but also have broken inside. It is to be noted that the police officers who had arrived on the scene, did not take measures to fully clean up the building from unidentified armed men. Instead of this the police referred to the corporate conflict, and said that attackers allegedly represented one side of this conflict. UKROP emphasizes: the information about any corporate conflict regarding the building of the party central office is unknown to its owners or tenants.
According to our employees, some of the armed men said they were representatives of a private security company “Alfa-Shield”. At the same time they were using the transport of the NGO “Livyy Bereg (Left Bank)”. According to the information that has got the party, both organizations are affiliated with the President Poroshenko’s inner circle – namely with his personal friend and business partner Igor Kononenko. The employees of the party secretariat have previously identified among the young men attacking the office, people who had put up a fight during the session of Dniprovsk District Court of Kyiv and had brutally beaten up the activists of UKROP. Because of the police’s blatant inaction towards the armed attackers and direct indulgency permitting some of them to remain in the building, UKROP does not exclude a night’s assault and capture of all the premises of the party office.
Taking into account the new evidence of a rapid loss of the last signs of a civilized political competition in Ukraine, the UKROP party requires the leadership of the state:
- Immediately stop political raiding and political repression.
- Immediately protect the remnants of the law and order in Ukraine.
- Immediately take measures to establish those who are responsible for this armed provocation.
- Immediately stop putting pressure on political opponents.
- Immediately start investigating the armed attack on the activists of the party during the infamous session of Dniprovsk District Court of Kyiv and the gang siege of UKROP party office. We require an independent investigation of these crimes with participation of the international experts.
We will make such a request to the Western allies and partners of Ukraine. We assure Petro Poroshenko that none of the provocations organized by his criminal inner circle in the executive and legislative power as well as in the law enforcement and judiciary could stop the patriots and prevent the protests against corruption and traitorous policy.
