The representatives of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine are going to remove the electronic ankle that the chairman of UKROP political council Hennady Korban still wears in order to falsify the results of examination by the next court session and to state about alleged interference in the electronic monitoring device. The politician’s lawyer Oksana Tomchuk wrote it on her Facebook page on January 14, noting that she had received this information from an anonymous source.
“The prosecutor’s mind strikes on a “great” plan – an ankle that is still on Hennady’s leg is to be removed, so that by the day of the next court session they could complete “necessary” examination, which in fact has already been written, exactly in the right way for the prosecutors,” wrote Oksana Tomchuk. According to her, the results of appropriate “exemanitaion” should establish a fact of alleged interference with an ankle monitor and violation of the conditions of pretrial restriction in form of house arrest.
According to the lawyer, in such a manner the law enforcers want to justify the so-called “mask show 2” that took place on December 24, 2015 when the politician was forcibly taken from his home and transported to Kyiv, accompanied by six buses of special forces soldiers. “Today we have gathered rumours from the MPs close to the law enforcement: prosecutors are actively spreading nonsense information about Hennady Korban’s having allegedly taken off his ankle monitor during the house arrest for going to some secret meetings,” said the lawyer.
At the same time the lawyer Tomchuk drew attention to the fact that during all the time when Hennady Korban was under house arrest, his home was surrounded by SBU officers day and night, while the policemen came to check him sometimes even several times a day. “I am officially warning you – do not play,” claimed the lawyer warning the prosecutors and stressing that any falsification of examination can be easily disclosed, while the punishment for such falsifications would be “long and uncomfortable”.
It is to be recalled, on January 13 Kyiv Appeal Court adjourned the hearing of the complaint submitted by Hennady Korban’s defence against the decision of Dniprovsk District Court of Kyiv on his arrest, the next hearing is to be held on January 22.
