The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine is trying to avoid disclosing information that it is against the rupture of diplomatic relations with Russia and against the termination of agreements with the Russian Federation regulating the status of the Sea of Azov. The chairman of the board of “Maidan of Foreign Affairs” Fund, head of Kyiv city organization of UKROP Bohdan Yaremenko has written about this on his Facebook page.

In this way, the politician commented on a letter signed by the Deputy Foreign Minister Lana Zerkal in response to the inquiry from UKROP regarding the events in the Azov Sea. The official assigned the letter with “for official use” remark.

“In order to cover her complete incompetence and to avoid the publication of completely anti-state approaches outlined in the letter, the Deputy Minister has classified the letter as the one ‘for official use’,” said the UKROP member.

He also commented on the recent statements made by the Deputy Foreign Minister on the conflict in the Sea of Azov, where the Russian coast guard is blocking merchant ships from the Ukrainian ports.

As it is known, the Deputy Minister noted that this situation is supposedly an artificial exacerbation in the media space. According to her, now Ukraine has no clear material that could be used to accuse Russia of detaining vessels. She has also noticed that the protests against detention can be declared if there are relevant materials.

“The lawyer should know that the right of the Russian special services, fixed in agreements with Ukraine, to stop the vessel for inspection at any point of the Sea of Azov, cannot be used to prevent the implementation of the principle of freedom of navigation fixed in the same treaties or to organize the blockade of the Ukrainian ports. And the lawyer, diplomat and Deputy Minister should publicly defend not the right of the Russians to stop and check merchant ships sailing to or from Ukrainian ports in the Sea of Azov,” stressed Bohdan Yaremenko.
