Imposing heating tariffs through the Rotterdam+ formula has become the biggest crime of the Ukrainian authorities teaming up with corrupt officials. This was stated by the head of the UKROP Advisory Expert Council Dmytro Simanskyi on the air of Espresso TV channel.
“Rotterdam+ is the biggest crime of the current Ukrainian government teaming up with the biggest corruptionists in the country. It’s very good that NABU is investigating it,” said the member of UKROP.
According to him, imposing tariffs through the so-called Rotterdam+ formula was profitable only to a small number of beneficiaries, the largest of which was the oligarch Rinat Akhmetov. The same was true for the president, Petro Poroshenko, it was impossible to approve this decision without his permission.
According to the expert, the government had also deceived the Ukrainians, proving that gas tariffs would be raised by the requirements of the International Monetary Fund.
“The logic of the IMF conditions was not to raise energy prices. International lenders demanded to cancel cross-subsidization for almost 20 years,” said Dmytro Simanskyi.
The politician stressed that the IMF required introducing equal gas prices for the entire market, as well as a transparent payment system, and eliminating the possibility for corrupt officials to make discounts for anyone. Instead, the Ukrainian authorities took advantage of the convenient reason for adoption of rigorous tariffs for all consumers.
