The current authorities will not make customs clearance of foreign cars affordable to ordinary Ukrainians. The MP from UKROP Oleksandr Shevchenko claimed this in Facebook live.

“Everything will be fine with the clearance of cars, but only when we change the power. The draft law of Nina Yuzhanina, adopted by the Verkhovna Rada in the first reading, is probably even more a crime than the current situation,” said Oleksandr Shevchenko.

On July 13, the parliament adopted in the first reading bills No. 8487 “On amendments to the Tax Code of Ukraine regarding taxation of an excise tax on motor vehicles” and No. 8488 “On amendments to the Customs Code of Ukraine and certain legislative acts of Ukraine concerning the importation of vehicles into the customs territory of Ukraine”, which allegedly have to solve the problem of cars with a foreign registration.

One of their co-authors, the head of the parliamentary committee on tax and customs policy Nina Yuzhanina insisted on the adoption of the documents.

Oleksandr Shevchenko considers that according to these bills, for example, the clearance of a car worth 600 euro will be 4-5 times more costly for its buyer than the price of the car.

In his turn, the head of Volyn Regional Council, member of the UKROP party presidium Ihor Palytsya said that the President Petro Poroshenko and his people benefit from exorbitant rates for customs clearance of foreign vehicles, since this allows them to continue to produce low-quality domestic automobiles under license of South Korea or China. The authorities explain that high fees are needed to finance the army. The funds go to the central budget, from which they allegedly direct them to war. In fact, the money collected from the drivers is assigned to the pockets of officials.

“It all goes into the pockets of the gang, which in 2014 took advantage of the deaths of people on Maidan, which led them to power. However, the life of ordinary Ukrainians has not changed since 2014 – on the contrary only, it got worse,” stressed Ihor Palytsya.

At the same time, Oleksandr Shevchenko has reminded that an alternative bill has been registered in the Verkhovna Rada, which the MPs have drafted in cooperation with the UKROP members Taras Batenko, Valentyn Didych and Viktor Shevchenko. The UKROP representatives propose to really simplify the conditions for the import of cars from abroad and make them affordable for every Ukrainian.

The draft law No. 8208 “On amendments to the Tax Code of Ukraine and certain legislative acts of Ukraine regarding the promotion of development of the market of vehicles” should provide for a single fixed fee of 500 euro for the import of new and used cars that are no older than ten years.
