The MP from UKROP Oleksandr Shevchenko is going to personally control the investigation of the explosion of a mortar during military exercises at Rivne landfill. The parliamentarian said this during a meeting with the front-line volunteers from different regions.
“I have to do it. I am an MP who is subject to the community. I will have a conversation with people from Europe and USA, who are relevant to the defense industry, whether they had such cases,” noted the UKROP member.
Thus the MP reacted at the request of the volunteers to take the investigation of the incident under personal control. Activists also insisted on conducting an examination of the metal used for the production of such weapons.
“Do I believe that such an expertise is possible in Ukraine and will be carried out independently and honestly? No way. I will submit an appropriate deputy’s inquiry. We will try to involve the international community in the expertise. It needs to be done in Poland, Germany, anywhere, but not in Ukraine,” said the member of UKROP.
According to the MP, after the explosion in Rivne, the use of such mortars should be prohibited.
In his turn, the volunteer Yuriy Moskalenko has noticed that the weapons of the Ukrainian military explode not for the first time.
“The mortars have already exploded four times. And it will be said for the fourth time that people are guilty. Those mortars that are now in our army do not hold water,” stressed the volunteer.
It is to be recalled that on July 6, a mortar exploded during a military exercise at Rivne landfill. As a result of the incident, three soldiers were killed and nine others were injured. At the moment, the investigation is considering several versions of the causes of explosion, including violations of security measures during the exercises.
